Churches of Christ Care Housing Services
Providing high quality, low-cost community housing throughout Queensland
Churches of Christ Care’s housing services is one of the largest not-for-profit community housing providers in Queensland and has over 30 years experience in property and tenancy management.
Our housing services provide a range of rental housing options for individuals and families who are earning low incomes, are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, or are discriminated against in the private housing market.
We also provide crisis housing, transitional housing, long-term community and affordable housing, including the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS). Housing support is also available from our Family and Individual Support Service to assist tenants with income arrangements, budgeting and referral to other specialist services. Churches of Christ Care also operates Home Assist Secure programs across Queensland which aim at promoting independence and quality of life for various target groups
One social housing system
Queensland’s one social housing system includes all products, services and programs provided, funded or subsidised by the Queensland Government’s Department of Housing & Public Works, including high subsidy assistance such as rental housing, products such as bond loans, and renting a home in the private market. Having a one social housing system creates a more efficient and responsive structure and supports the integrated provision of a broad range of housing assistance for low income Queenslanders.
Key features of the social housing system include:
- Simple entry points for clients to access a range of housing assistance. Eligible clients can apply for all forms of social housing through one point of entry.
- One housing register replacing multiple waiting lists operated by community and local government housing providers.
- Standard processes to assess clients’ eligibility for a range of services and to allocate clients to housing.
- Social housing provided to people with the highest need, but only for as long as they need it.
- Connecting clients to support services as needed.
- Assisting clients to leave social housing and enter the private housing sector.
- Churches of Christ Care supports the one social housing system
We acknowledge the federal, state and local government funding and assistance of our strategic partners across all Churches of Christ Care housing services. Affordable Housing Capital Grants Program, Crisis Accommodation Program, Community Rent Scheme, Community-Managed Studio Units and the Long Term Housing Program, are programs of the Queensland Government’s Department of Housing & Public Works and managed within the one social housing system.
Social housing in our integrated communities
We are working closely with the Department of Housing and Public Works to assist where possible by offering a once in a lifetime opportunity for people over the age of 55 to transfer to our new and innovative community housing in our various integrated communities. Churches of Christ Care Housing provides quality and affordable housing that enables tenants to remain independent, while living in a secure and supportive environment. Most importantly we offer tenants and their family peace of mind for the future.
As people age their needs change, and living in one of our integrated communities will ensure tenants do not have to leave their home, neighbours or familiar surrounds to receive the appropriate support and care that may be needed in the future.
