Home Assist Secure, providing home maintenance and security assistance
What is Home Assist Secure?
Home Assist Secure is a program that aims to improve the safety, independence and quality of life for people 60 years and over and people of any age with a disability, who wish to remain living in their own home.
This program provides information, referrals and in some cases depending on eligibility and need, subsidised assistance with essential home maintenance, security and minor modifications. The program is funded by the Queensland Department of Communities, Housing and Homelessness Services.
Home Assist Secure assists older people and people with disabilities to:
- make more informed decisions about home maintenance, repairs, modifications and home security
- feel safer living in their home
- gain increased physical access within their home
- have increased confidence about employing trades people for housing related work
- obtain help with general and security related maintenance and repairs
- to remain living in their home and community.
Our programs provide the following services for eligible clients:
Information and referral
Free information is available about home maintenance, fall prevention, repairs, minor modifications and home security. Service staff can also refer and assist, if necessary, with employing tradespeople, assessing jobs or planning future work.
Home security
Staff trained by the Queensland Police Crime Prevention Unit can inspect your home to help you decide on security related repairs and installations.
Subsidised assistance
Home Assist Secure can provide subsidised assistance by contributing to the labour costs involved for minor essential home maintenance, repairs, modifications and security which relate to health, safety and security of eligible clients. Subsidy is not provided for beautifications or upgrades in the home.
