Churches of Christ Care (Care) is a leading not-for-profit organisation in Queensland, which is dedicated to providing care and support to families, the elderly and people in need.
Established in 1930 to provide food and clothing to those in need during the Great Depression, Care is now a major provider of residential and community care services. Care operates 137 services across Queensland, employing approximately 2, 300 staff, supported by more than 600 volunteers. Recently Churches of Christ Care’s child protection services, Care Pathways and Options, opened their new office in Yatala, which will support children and young people who cannot live at home with their parents. The office is currently responsible for supporting the placement of 245 children and young people across the South East region through our foster care, residential care, semi-independent living and options programs. Staff also work with 18 families via our assessment and intervention program.
The opening was attended by the Honourable Phil Reeves, Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Sport, Margaret Keech, State Member for Albert, Geeta Chhatbar – Acting Regional Director (Department of Communities), and Bryan Smith – Executive Director of Foster Care Queensland, as well as carers, representatives from the department, and Care Pathways staff.
