TravelCare
Care is able to offer home based respite for primary carers of persons suffering dementia, behaviours of concern and inappropriate behavioural disorders which restrict their access to generally available services and/or refuse to attend Day Respite Centres. This service is able to be offered through the Commonwealth Government’s National Respite for Carers Program.
Home based respite is offered in blocks of time eg two to six hours, to enable primary carers to catch up with other family members, friends, shopping and/or just to have time out.
Care staff work in consultation with the primary carers to initiate a program to provide coordinated services which are reliable and planned to meet individual, ongoing, specific needs, with flexibility for clients in Beaudesert and surrounding areas.
Some activities TravelCare staff can assist with include daily task of personal hygiene, transport to respite day centres, appointments to doctors and other professionals.
Through this program, Care staff can also offer assistance to locate appropriate facility respite and other services as required.
TravelCare also offers clients monthly bus trips, pamper days, luncheons, and craft days. Home base respite will be arranged to allow primary carers to attend carer support monthly gatherings.
