Lady Small Haven Aged Care Services - A Haven on the Gold Coast
Lady Small Haven Aged Care Services is set among spacious, well maintained gardens at Benowa, close to the heart of the ever popular Gold Coast. There are 105 residents with either low or high care needs who live on the beautifully appointed site. Staff provide all levels of care in a loving, friendly environment which centres around the provision of individualised, personalised attention for those in our care.
Hostel
Accommodation facilities
The 59-bed hostel is tastefully furnished with comfortable lounges and dining areas. Residents’ bedrooms are left to be furnished by the resident themselves. However, all rooms have their own ensuite, wall heater, ceiling fan and an emergency call system. Some rooms have external balconies and built-in wardrobes. Plugs are provided for small appliances, telephone and UHF television aerials.
Personal care services
Our residents are encouraged to maintain independence with their everyday living tasks.However, if an assessment reveals extra assistance is needed, Care staff are available to help with showering , personal hygiene, medication, dressing, dementia and emotional support, mobility, meal assistance, special diets, rehabilitation, communication and short-term illness.

Accommodation facilities
Every effort has been made to create a ‘homelike environment’ for the 46 residents facility. There are several attractive lounge areas and pleasant outdoor living spaces. Most accommodation is in two or four-bed rooms with a limited number of single rooms allocated to residents with special care needs. Each bed is fully screened for privacy. Residents have their own lockable bedside cabinet and large wardrobe. An individual heater, ceiling fan, television point, light and power point are provided for each resident. Each resident has access to the nurse call system. Residents are encouraged to make their room personal by bringing with them pictures and other personal effects.
There are also 79 Independent Living Units on site.
The ‘Haven’ as it was known, was built by Care on land donated by former Gold Coast mayor and property developer, Sir Bruce Small. Sir Bruce named the facility ‘Lady Small Haven’ as a tribute to his wife Lillian who was a ‘lady in her own right’. Lady Small Haven was officially opened on 4 March 1978.
