Limited Hours Care
Care has one not-for-profit, community based limited hours care child care centre - Hawthorne Limited Hours Early Childhood Centre, providing centre-based care for a maximum of twelve hours per child per week. The small centre offers care for a maximum of 21 children from six weeks to school age.
As it is a community centre, we also welcome volunteers. A volunteers' handbook is available for interested parents or community members.
- Hours of care
- The centre provides child care from 9am to 2pm four days a week. Attendance is restricted to 12 hours per week per child. The centre is closed for all public holidays and the state school holiday periods but is open on pupil free days.
- Eligibility
- First priority is given to parents at home with young children requiring occasional or casual child care. Limited hours care is not designed for families requiring work-related child care. It is available to working parents if the places are not being fully utilised by non-working parents.
- Our facilities
- Hawthorne Limited Hours Early Childhood Centre caters for different age groups and ensures children make a smooth transition as they grow older and progress through the child care rooms.
- Indoor and outdoor environments are designed for the different age groups and can be changes to suit individual and group needs. We provide creative, stimulating and educational play experiences. Children participate in a range of activities in a child focused and nurturing environment.
- Children are required to bring a nutritional morning tea and lunch each day.

- Full details of the program and the centre's policies, fees and charges etc, are available from the Director and are included in the parent handbook. Staff welcome the opportunity to discuss the program and facilities with parents.
