Mobile Children’s Service
Care’s St George Mobile Children’s Service is a not-for-profit, community based service providing child care, kindergarten and playgroups for children aged newborn to five years of age in St George and surrounding districts.
The St George Mobile Children’s Service, which was set up in response to the needs of families in the remote communities surrounding St George, is funded by the Commonwealth Government. It aims to support geographically isolated families and children, and to facilitate and network with communities to promote child development. The service operates from a specially equipped vehicle which visits local communities and sets up in local venues such as community halls.
St George Mobile Children’s Service provides a playgroup for children in St George and surrounding districts. The playgroup is an informal session where parents, carers and children meet together in a relaxed environment. The sessions are set up and run by parents and early childhood practitioners, with children choosing from a range of activities such as music, singing, painting, play dough, clay, block play, puzzles, obstacle courses, water play, dress ups, face painting and much more. Playgroup also allows local families to develop new friendships, relax and talk in a friendly environment, share experiences and ideas and guide children positively.
The St George Mobile Children’s Service provides childcare and kindergarten at a different location each day of the week. The locations include Surat, Teelba, Thallon, Bollon and Dirranbandi.
